RAVEN - BLACK MAGIC ROCK accompanies the journeys of RAVEN - a female rock band from Mannheim (Barbara Lahr/vocals, Christiane Schmied/guitar, Elle Otto II/ violin, Johanna Ensinger/ drums and Beatrice Schnitzer, bass), that have their songs staged by the grand master of the Black Light Theatre of Prague, Jiri Srnec.
Varied biographies collide: these five musicians are self-assured and absolutely different in temperament, plus the star director, Jiri Srnec with his ensemble, all sworn aficionados of light effects. Jiri Srnec plays with the music of "Raven" and employs all registers in the fantastic world of his Black Light Theatre.
The film documents work in progress, face-to-face with events and without commentary. It is a roadmovie characterised by the idiosyncrasies of the musicians and a musical crossroads, a musical trip that’s fun to take. |
